At Zland Movers, we understand that your furniture, household goods, office equipment, and personal belongings are important to you. Our team takes great care throughout every stage of the moving, transportation, and storage process.
We use professional moving equipment, protective materials, and safe handling practices to help minimise risk wherever reasonably possible.
Below is important information regarding insurance responsibilities, transit cover, liability, and Owner’s Risk terms relating to services provided by Zland Movers.

Insurance Responsibility & Owner’s Risk Information
All services provided by Zland Movers are carried under Owner’s Risk terms in accordance with the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.
Under an Owner’s Risk contract, customers remain responsible for arranging suitable insurance cover for household goods, furniture, office equipment, commercial goods, personal belongings, and stored items.
Insurance is not automatically included in Zland Movers’ standard moving, transportation, or storage services.
By proceeding with our moving or storage services, customers acknowledge and accept that their goods are being transported, handled, and/or stored under Owner’s Risk terms unless alternative arrangements are confirmed in writing.
Customers remain responsible for arranging insurance cover they may require for:
Household goods and furniture
Office and commercial equipment
Intercity relocations
Retirement village moves
Piano and specialty item transportation
Storage services
Personal belongings and valuables
Road and traffic conditions
Weather conditions
Tight stairways and restricted accessways
Fragile, aged, or flat-pack furniture
Loading and unloading requirements
Customer-packed boxes and containers
Hidden structural weaknesses or pre-existing damage
Unexpected incidents outside reasonable control
For this reason, we strongly recommend customers arrange suitable insurance cover if protection against accidental loss or damage is required.
Customer Transit Insurance
Customers are encouraged to check with their existing insurance provider before moving, as some domestic, commercial, or business insurance policies may include cover for goods in transit under certain conditions.
Customers should confirm directly with their insurer regarding:
Transit cover availability
Storage cover conditions
Excess amounts
Fragile item exclusions
Customer-packed box exclusions
Commercial goods limitations
High-value item limitations
If additional transit insurance is required, Zland Movers can assist customers in arranging cover through our trusted insurance provider upon request.
Zland Movers does not provide or underwrite insurance directly and acts only as an arranger where customers request assistance with transit insurance.
Any insurance arrangements, policy approvals, premiums, excesses, exclusions, cover terms, or claims remain directly between the customer and the insurance provider.
Insurance Cover Limitations
Transit insurance policies may contain exclusions, excesses, conditions, packaging requirements, and cover limitations depending on the policy selected.
Customers are encouraged to carefully review all insurance documentation and policy wording directly with the insurance provider before arranging cover.
Insurance cover may not apply to certain items, including but not limited to:
- Cash, jewellery, watches, passports, or negotiable documents
- Pre-existing damaged items
- Customer-packed items
- Fragile items not packed appropriately
- Plants and perishables
- Mechanical or electrical failure not caused by transit damage
- Antiques or collectables not professionally packed
- Glass components and internal glass breakage
- Items exceeding insurer value limits unless declared beforehand
Operational Insurance Maintained by Zland Movers
Zland Movers maintains operational insurance policies relating to our vehicles, transport operations, and business activities.
These policies relate to the operation of our business and transport services. They do not replace customer transit insurance for household goods, office equipment, commercial goods, personal belongings, or stored items.
Professional Handling & Protective Equipment
Our movers use professional moving equipment and protective materials to help minimise risk during transportation and handling where reasonably possible.
This may include:
Furniture blankets for furniture protection
Moving straps and securing systems within our trucks
Trolleys and lifting equipment for safer handling
Tail-lift trucks on selected vehicles where available and suitable
Protective handling practices during loading and unloading
Additional packing materials such as shrink wrap, mattress protectors, moving boxes, and specialised packing supplies can be arranged upon request at an additional cost.
For storage services, items are generally stored in the condition and packaging provided by the customer at the time of collection.
If customers require additional wrapping, protection, or packing for storage purposes, professional packing services and packing materials can be arranged upon request at an additional cost.
Fragile, High-Risk & Specialty Items
Customers are encouraged to advise our team in advance regarding any fragile, oversized, delicate, sentimental, or high-value items.
Examples may include:
- Glass furniture
- Marble or stone furniture
- Artwork and mirrors
- Antiques
- Pianos
- Pool tables
- Spa pools
- Commercial gym equipment
- Electronics and specialised equipment
Additional handling requirements, labour, equipment, or charges may apply for certain specialty items.
Pre-Existing Damage & Structural Weakness
Zland Movers is not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing conditions, hidden structural weakness, previous repairs, poor assembly, flat-pack instability, weakened particle board, deteriorated materials, or items not suitable for safe transportation.
This may include:
- Old or weakened furniture
- Flat-pack furniture
- Particle board furniture
- Previously repaired items
- Loose legs, joints, screws, or panels
- Items with existing cracks, dents, scratches, or instability
Customers are encouraged to advise our team of any known damage or weakness before the move begins.
Customer-Packed Boxes & Containers
Where customers choose to pack their own boxes or containers, customers remain responsible for ensuring items are packed appropriately for transportation.
We recommend:
- Using strong moving boxes
- Avoiding excessively heavy boxes
- Clearly labelling fragile items
- Using sufficient wrapping and protection materials
- Keeping valuable or important items with you personally
- Items with existing cracks, dents, scratches, or instability
Zland Movers cannot verify the internal packing quality of customer-packed boxes or containers.
Plastic storage containers and lids may vary in quality and structural strength. While our team stacks containers carefully and safely to maximise truck space during transportation, customers acknowledge that certain plastic lids or containers may crack or become damaged due to material quality, weight distribution, or pre-existing weakness.
Professional packing assistance can be arranged upon request.
Excluded &
Restricted Items
Customers are encouraged to personally transport and keep secure any important, valuable, or restricted items wherever possible.
These may include:
- Cash and bank notes
- Jewellery and watches
- Important documents and passports
- Perishable or frozen goods
- Hazardous or flammable materials
- Firearms or explosives
- Illegal goods
- High-value collectibles
- Irreplaceable personal valuables
- Pets, animals, or livestock
Storage Services
Items stored with Zland Movers remain stored under Owner’s Risk terms.
Customers using short-term or long-term storage services are encouraged to arrange appropriate insurance cover for stored goods if required.
Storage access can be arranged during standard working hours by prior arrangement with our team.
Items are generally stored in the condition and packaging provided by the customer unless additional packing or protection services are requested and agreed.
Reporting Concerns
Customers are encouraged to inspect delivered items and confirm all belongings have been unloaded prior to completion of the service.
If there are any concerns regarding transported or stored items, customers should notify our team as soon as reasonably possible following delivery so the matter can be reviewed promptly.
Where insurance has been arranged, claims remain subject to insurer assessment, policy wording, exclusions, and approval.
